Our Policies

Keeping every NoBiz student safe, supported and confident

At NoBiz Performing Arts creating a safe, inclusive and positive environment for every student is extremely important to us. Our Policies are designed to protect our students, families and team and to make sure everyone understands how NoBiz operates.

SAFEGUARDING & CHILD PROTECTION

Our commitment At NoBiz Performing Arts, the safety, wellbeing and welfare of every child and young person in our care is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to providing a safe, welcoming, inclusive and respectful environment where students can enjoy performing arts, develop confidence, build friendships and express their creativity. NoBiz is committed to protecting children and young people from abuse, neglect, exploitation, bullying, discrimination and other forms of harm. Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and the welfare of the child will always come first. Who this policy covers For safeguarding purposes, a child is anyone under 18. This policy applies to NoBiz directors, teachers, assistants, volunteers, chaperones, visiting professionals and anyone working on behalf of NoBiz. It applies during: •Weekly classes and workshops •Rehearsals and recording sessions •Shows and theatre performances •Competitions •Trips and external events •Holiday activities •Online or social-media activity connected with NoBiz SEN/SEND, disability & additional needs Inclusivity is extremely important to NoBiz. We recognise that children with SEN/SEND, disabilities, neurodivergence, communication difficulties, mobility needs or other additional needs may require additional safeguarding support. •We will listen to and respect every student and allow additional time or communication support where needed. •Staff will be alert to non-verbal signs of distress and changes in behaviour. •A child's disability or communication difficulty will never be a reason to give less weight to a concern or disclosure. •Reasonable adjustments will be made wherever possible. •Relevant medical, mobility, communication and personal-care arrangements will be discussed with parents/carers as appropriate. •The student's dignity, privacy and individual needs will be respected. Bullying and child-on-child harm NoBiz has zero tolerance for bullying, harassment, discrimination, sexual harassment or deliberately unkind behaviour. This includes behaviour in person, through messaging, social media or other online platforms. Concerns will be taken seriously and acted upon appropriately. Physical contact during classes Dance, acro/gymnastics and performing arts teaching can sometimes require appropriate physical contact to demonstrate or correct technique, assist positioning, provide mobility support or prevent injury. Any contact must be necessary, appropriate, respectful and proportionate. Students' dignity and personal boundaries will always be considered. Changing rooms, dressing rooms and toilets Children's privacy and dignity must be respected. Appropriate supervision and chaperoning arrangements will be used for shows and events. Photography and filming are not permitted in changing rooms, dressing areas or toilets. Medical needs, medication and personal care Parents/carers must tell NoBiz about relevant medical conditions, allergies, medication or additional support needs. Medication brought to NoBiz should be clearly labelled and handed over in accordance with the arrangements communicated by NoBiz. Reporting a safeguarding concern If a child tells a member of the NoBiz team that they are being harmed, or if we have concerns about a child's safety or welfare, the concern will be taken seriously. Staff will listen, reassure the child, make an appropriate record and report the concern through NoBiz safeguarding procedures. We cannot promise complete confidentiality where there is a safeguarding concern. Information may need to be shared with appropriate safeguarding professionals in order to protect the child or another person. Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) Giselle Grimm - Director, NoBiz Performing Arts If a child is in immediate danger, call 999. Staff and safeguarding NoBiz uses appropriate safer-recruitment and DBS arrangements for relevant roles. Staff and volunteers are expected to maintain professional boundaries and report concerns about the conduct of any adult working with children. Review This policy is reviewed at least annually and sooner where safeguarding guidance or NoBiz's activities materially change. Policy updated: September 2026 | Next review: September 2027

PHOTOGRAPHY, FILMING & SOCIAL MEDIA

Why we take photographs and video Photography and filming are an important part of celebrating our students' achievements and sharing the opportunities available at NoBiz Performing Arts. Photographs and video may be taken during classes, rehearsals, shows, competitions and other NoBiz activities. Where appropriate, images or footage may be used for: •The NoBiz website •Official NoBiz social-media accounts •Promotional materials and advertising •Flyers, posters and show programmes •Displays and celebration posts •Teaching, rehearsal and performance purposes Consent and children's wishes NoBiz will obtain appropriate parental/carer permission for children under 18 for photography and filming where required. Parents/carers should tell NoBiz if they do not give permission for their child to be photographed or filmed. We will make reasonable arrangements to avoid deliberately including a child without appropriate permission in promotional photographs or footage. We also respect children's wishes; if a child tells us they do not want to be photographed or filmed, this will be respected wherever reasonably possible. Safe use of images •Images must be appropriate and must not present children in a demeaning, sexualised or unsafe way. •Personal information about a child will not be unnecessarily attached to an identifiable image. •Photography or filming is not permitted in toilets, changing rooms or other areas where children have a reasonable expectation of privacy. •Official NoBiz photography/filming should use appropriate authorised arrangements and professional boundaries. •Images and recordings will be handled in accordance with NoBiz's Privacy & Data Protection Policy. Shows and performances Different photography and filming arrangements may apply during theatre productions and performances. Where NoBiz or a venue appoints an official photographer or videographer, parents and audience members must follow any photography or recording restrictions communicated for that event. Professional photographs and professionally recorded show footage remain subject to the photographer's/videographer's terms and applicable copyright. Images should not be copied, screen-grabbed, reproduced or distributed contrary to those terms. Parents and audience members Where personal photography or filming is permitted at an event, parents/carers should be mindful that their images may include other people's children. Please consider the privacy of other families before posting identifiable images or video publicly. Social media and online communication NoBiz uses social media to celebrate students, advertise classes and share information about performances and activities. Staff are expected to maintain professional boundaries online. Where appropriate, communication concerning younger students will be directed through parents/carers or official NoBiz channels. Any online bullying, grooming, inappropriate communication, threats, harassment or other safeguarding concern connected with a NoBiz student should be reported to the Designated Safeguarding Lead. Withdrawing or changing permission Parents/carers may contact NoBiz if they wish to change future photography/filming permissions. Where an image has already been lawfully published or incorporated into printed material, it may not always be possible to retrieve every existing copy, but NoBiz will consider reasonable requests regarding future use. FEES, PAYMENTS & CANCELLATIONS

Payment structure NoBiz class fees are calculated across 11 months of the year, based on 35 teaching weeks annually, and are payable monthly. This spreads the annual class cost into regular payments rather than charging separately for each teaching week. Fees and payment • Fees must be paid by the payment date communicated by NoBiz. • A £10 late payment fee will be added if payment is not received by the requested payment date. • Parents/carers are responsible for keeping payments up to date. • Additional activities such as costumes, competitions, trips, workshops, theatre tickets, masterclasses, photography or show recordings may be charged separately and will be communicated in advance. • Where an account falls into arrears, NoBiz may contact the parent/carer to request payment and may suspend attendance or withhold optional items/activities until the account is brought up to date. Missed classes Fees reserve a student's place in their class. No automatic refund or reduction is normally given where a student misses a class through personal absence, holiday or other individual circumstances. Classes cancelled by NoBiz If NoBiz has to cancel a class, we will communicate the arrangements to parents/carers. Depending on the circumstances, NoBiz may offer a replacement session, credit or other appropriate arrangement. Leaving or changing classes Parents/carers should contact NoBiz directly if a student wishes to leave or change a class. Any notice period or final payment requirement will be confirmed according to the enrolment/payment arrangements in place at that time. Shows, costumes and additional commitments Participation in shows, competitions or special events may involve additional costs and commitments. These will be explained separately. Where costumes or other items have been ordered specifically for a student, payment may remain due even if the student later withdraws. Financial concerns If a family is experiencing difficulty with a payment, please contact NoBiz as early as possible. We would always prefer parents/carers to speak to us rather than leave an account unresolved. Policy updated: September 2026 | Next review: September 2027

Students should arrive on time and parents/carers should let NoBiz know where possible if a student will be absent. Medication and injuries Any required medication should be clearly labelled and brought to the attention of a member of the NoBiz team. Parents/carers should tell us about relevant injuries, medical conditions or changes that may affect safe participation. Behaviour and kindness NoBiz wants every student to feel safe, included and valued. We expect students to treat teachers and one another with respect. •Bullying, discriminatory behaviour, harassment and deliberately unkind behaviour are not acceptable. •Students should listen to teachers and follow reasonable safety instructions. •Disruptive, unsafe or offensive behaviour will be addressed appropriately. •Serious or repeated behaviour that places others at risk may result in a student being asked to leave a class or activity. Drop-off and collection Parents/carers should follow the sign-in, drop-off and collection arrangements communicated by NoBiz. Children who require collection should leave with an authorised adult unless an alternative arrangement has been agreed. Personal belongings Students should bring only the belongings they need for class and keep valuables to a minimum. Items should be labelled where practical. NoBiz cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage to personal items except where required by law. Mobile phones Phones should not interfere with teaching or rehearsals and should be stored or used according to the teacher's instructions.
